Statistics show that riding a bike not only improves physical fitness, it also benefits children's learning development and mental health. Since Paul & Mindee Blanco brought the Bikes for Kids Program to the Barnum Foundation for Life, nearly 3,000 bikes and helmets have been donated to underserved children.
This year, the goal is to give 500 kids the freedom to stay active and healthy! Watch this video to learn more.
Founded by Bill and Debbie Pollakov, the Bikes for Kids Program provides all involved with an uplifting and empowering experience. Underserved children and their families are invited to attend a fun community event (such as a football game or basketball game); at some point during the event, the bikes are unveiled and the children are surprised with a brand new bike and helmet! Families not only have an exciting day together, but their children benefit from the exercise that riding a bike offers and the pride and responsibility that comes from owning a bike.
Past Bikes for Kids events have taken place at New York Giants games (NY), New York Jets games (NY), Springfield College (MA), UCONN (CT), Sacred Heart University (CT), Cranston YMCA (RI) and more! Watch this video to see Bikes for Kids in action!
